About this Event
67 North Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
On Thursday, September 27, at 4:45 p.m., President Carmen Twillie Ambar will host a community colloquium in Hall Auditorium, “The Public's View of Higher Education” with Dr. Terry Hartle, senior VP for government and public affairs at the American Council on Education.
What are the trends confronting higher education? One topic of concern is the apparent erosion of public confidence in institutions of higher learning. Polls suggest that public opinion regarding the value of higher ed—and the perception of it as a public good—may be declining. The American Council on Education (ACE) conducted public opinion research to better assess this view. Terry Hartle, a 20-year advocate of higher education, discusses the results of this data and what the results mean for Oberlin and higher education as a whole. At the conclusion of the presentation, there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.
For those who cannot attend in person, an opportunity for a livestream presentation is available to a limited number of participants. Please register here.
