DESCRIPTION:Why do museums do what they do? Why do they collect and display
the things they do? Why should museums be a part of people’s lives? Why
is it worth participating in museums? Why should we preserve museums for
the future? Why might I want to work at a museum?\n\nJoin a group conversa
tion in the galleries of the Allen Memorial Art Museum\, where we’ll beg
in with the question “why?” in order to discuss different types of mus
eums\, their goals\, and the communities they hope to serve.\n\nThis winte
r term event is open to all students who are interested in art\, history\,
cultural institutions\, issues of display\, or simply in the question:
“Why museums?”\n\nLunch will follow this free program. RSVP by Monday\
 , January 13 at tinyurl.com/whymuseums.
