About this Event
87 North Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
Why do museums do what they do? Why do they collect and display the things they do? Why should museums be a part of people’s lives? Why is it worth participating in museums? Why should we preserve museums for the future? Why might I want to work at a museum?
Join a group conversation in the galleries of the Allen Memorial Art Museum, where we’ll begin with the question “why?” in order to discuss different types of museums, their goals, and the communities they hope to serve.
This winter term event is open to all students who are interested in art, history, cultural institutions, issues of display, or simply in the question: “Why museums?”
Lunch will follow this free program. RSVP by Monday, January 13 at tinyurl.com/whymuseums.
