What We Look Like comically presents the life of an African American family caught between their cultural values and the white suburbs they live in. When 8-year-old Tommy comes home with a family portrait depicting his imaginary white mother, father, and sister (and no brother!) the family begins to question how to reconcile the two worlds they live in—with help from the eerily familiar-looking white family that moved in next door.

What We Look Like is by Benjamin Tindal ’16 and directed by Caroline Jackson Smith, professor of theater and Africana studies.
