About this Event
119 Woodland Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
Please join us in the science library to experience a sound installation built collaboratively by women and non-binary students, faculty, and staff working in cis-male dominated STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) at Oberlin College.
What I Didn’t Say is a paper quilt of handmade electromagnets, each playing back a voice recording describing what one of the installation creators did not say after a particular experience in their field. The installation puts the onus on you, the visitor to seek out and actively listen to the experiences and thoughts of women in STEAM.
You will be provided equipment that allows you to find and hear the creators’ recordings—entirely inaudible to the naked ear—transmitted through electromagnetic waves.
