About this Event
122 Elm Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
#talkSubalpine conifer forests have historically recovered rapidly following infrequent, large, and severe fires. However, as frequency increases in a warming, drying climate, it is uncertain whether today's forests will persist and how this will affect fire risk to human communities. In the talk, "Western Forests in an Uncertain Future: How will changing climate and increasing fire activity affect forested and human landscapes in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem?" Kristin Braziunas '08, will discuss post-fire regeneration and the role of emerging technologies, such as simulation models and drones in measuring and anticipating future forest landscapes.
