Join us for a rotating series of working sessions covering the fundamentals of your career preparation.  These sessions are designed to address the preliminary questions most Oberlin students ask in their first consultations with advisors. Attending these sessions helps you jump-start progress on important topics and tasksso you can focus your one-to-one time with advisors on the more personalized work related to your strategies and documents.

Weekly Working Sessions will take place in the Career Center Conference Room every Tuesday at  12:30pm and every Wednesday at 4pm. Check our calendar for the specific topics covered each week.

Each session will consist of a half-hour presentation followed by an (optional) half hour of guided hands-on work.  Bring your laptop and a friend - we'll supply the snacks!

An overview of the many resources and services available at the career center. Trying to choose a major? Exploring career options? Looking for an internship or a job? Applying to graduate school? Learn about all the different ways the Career Center can help. The hands-on portion of this workshop will focus on getting the most out of our job and internship databases.

Fundamentals of Resume Design, Organization, and Content

Don't have a resume?  This session is for you.  Learn what makes an effective resume and how to highlight the many facets of your Oberlin career. You've accomplished way more than you think! You'll have the chance to dive right in during the hands-on portion of this working session. 

Better Together: Connecting with Alumni through ObieWeb and LinkedIn

From building your LinkedIn profile to finding Oberlin alumni in your field of interest, we'll show you how you can make these great networking tools work for you.

Cover Letters, Personal Statements, and Networking Messages

It's not just about the resume! Whether you're writing a cover letter, requesting an informational interview, or asking an alum for housing during Winter Term, how you frame your career correspondence can make all the difference.
