Conductor and mindfulness teacher John Thomas Dodson will offer three virtual workshops specifically designed for the needs of Oberlin students. Each session will offer a mix of both presentation and experiential learning and include opportunities for discussion and questions.

The intention of these workshops is to provide insights into the mindsets and interior practices of creative people and to offer strategies to address the obstructions, views, and mental barriers that can hold us back from reaching our full potential. Activities will include learning breath meditation and exploring mindful practices including becoming free of old mindsets, opening to new possibilities, orienting toward process instead of outcomes, blurring the lines between work and play, and using a mindful approach in human relationships. The sessions will also address barriers to creativity, examining topics like inner judges, perfectionism, false beliefs about ourselves, mindlessness, and working with fears and anxieties that can limit our options in responding to the challenges of daily life.
