Come watch two original short films by award-winning director, Justin Emeka '94, Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Theater. Hosted by Oberlin College Alumni Assoc. of African Ancestry at the Apollo Theater. Free. First come, first seated.

"Six Winters Gone Still" was shot in Oberlin with a largely student cast and crew.  It is an adaptation of a Shakespearean scene reimagined in a contemporary Black experience. It premiered in 2023 in Chicago at the Black Harvest Film Festival.

"Biological" was shot in Seattle and set in the 90s.  It is about a talented Hip-Hop artist living obscurity who must choose between fatherhood or fame at a critical moment in his son's life.  It was awarded Best Short Film at at the Kansas City International Film Fest; Best International Short Film at the Toronto International Black & Diversity Film Festival; and the Audience Choice Award at the Seattle Black Film Festival.
