Transmedia Story Hour

King Building, 306 10 North Professor Street, Oberlin, OH 44074

Transmedia Story Hour: Sexual Objectification as a Queer Economic Resource features Vonn Jensen with Charis Hill. Discussion will be moderated by Vange Heiliger.

Public obsession with diseased bodies leads to racialized, sexualized, classed, and gendered commodification of diseased bodies regardless of the consent or desire of patients. Is there a way, then, to engage with that public consumption without becoming complicit in the harm caused by the loss of agency and privacy that accompany it?

In this transmedia story hour, Jensen complicates the visibility needs of marginalized communities and calls for a deeper analysis of celebrity and sexual objectification due to major illness. Joined via livestream by fellow queer celebrity sick person and chronic illness advocate, Hill,  they will discuss the radical redistribution of sexual objectification in cross-disease intersexual advocacy coalitions.

This event is fragrance free.
