Hallock Auditorium, Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies
122 Elm Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
Steven Gray, PhD, of the Department of Community Sustainability at Michigan State University, is the guest lecturer. Challenges such as climate change, fisheries management, and equitable access to clean water involve a coupling of human and ecological systems with complex feedbacks. Problem solving in these systems is difficult. Gray will explore approaches to harnessing ‘collective intelligence’—participatory modeling, wisdom of crowds, and swarm intelligence—to engage diverse stakeholders and scientists in improved understanding and collaborative decision-making.
