The student string quartet—violinists Molly Tucker and Riley Calcagno, violist Emily Edelstein, and cellist Raffi Boden—will perform Cuarteto No. 2 by Peruvian composer Celso Garrido-Lecca written in 1988. The quartet is dedicated to the memory of Victor Jara, an influential Chilean songwriter and activist. It is based on the melodies of several of his songs including Plegaria a un Labrador (prayer to a worker).
The ensemble will be performing this work from new 12.9-inch iPad Pros with the forScore app, expanding the technology to which our students have access. This technology is supported by the Oberlin College Center for Information Technology.
