Please join us in highlighting and celebrating the innovative STEM success of black professionals, Oberlin alumni, and current Oberlin students during Black History Month at Oberlin.

STEM in Color is a two-day summit that involves professionals and graduate students presenting their academic experiences, successes, and navigation methods through fields that are severely nonrepresentative of POC individuals.

The two-day event will feature a lecture series, discussion panels, student research talks, and a resource fair with campus departments.

Saturday presenters:

  • Nicollette Mitchell, BA, MS, (paleoclimatologist and advocate for Inclusive Excellence in STEM)
  • Andre White, PhD (neuroscientist)
  • LaMenta Conway, MD, MPH. (nonprofit Youth Physician Mentorship)
  • Jason Williams, BA (nonprofit STEM organization)
  • Kristy Woods, MD (internal medicine)
  • Chinweike Eseonu, PhD (engineer)

Sunday presenters:

  • Yemko Pryor, BA (human genetics)
  • Robert Walker, PhD, (mathematics)
  • Current Oberlin student researchers

The event is open for all students, staff, and community members. 

*Pizza will be served on Saturday starting at 11:45 a.m.
A catered lunch with all guest speakers will be held before the talks from 11 am to noon on Sunday in the Science Center Atrium.*
