According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, "100 million individuals have been forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations. We are now witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record."

This symposium brings together scholars from the GLCA/GLAA institutions to explore migration, displacement, and settlement from national and global perspectives and offers insight for understanding one of the most pressing global problems of our time.

There will be three sessions:

October 27th, 9am-12pm- Setting the Stage: Borders, Walls, and Boundaries in the Contemporary Global Migration Crisis

October 27th, 2-5:30pm - The Journey & Resilience of Refugees: Routes, Temporary Settlements and Refugee Camps

October 28th, 9am-2pm - The Experiences and Challenges of Resettlement: Solidarity, Coalition, and Resettlement of Refugees in Destination Communities
