The Elephant and the Termite:
A Look at the State of the Performing Arts Ecosystem

Recent evolutionary shifts in arts management and non profit arts organizational structures have welcomed meaningful change at all levels of the performing arts ecosystem. Large institutions (elephants) are looking to smaller institutions (termites) for advice, creative (re)direction, and structural change. As young artists, we have developed a new field which has been called "Creative Producing." This field involves the activation of numerous layers of the arts non profit complex. How do we engage that system as positive agents of change? How do we honor our values and artistic integrity at every step?

Join us for a conversation with Ross Karre, Associate Professor of Percussion at Oberlin Conservatory and percussionist with the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) where he served as Artistic Director from 2016 to 2022
