Olympic diving coach Jeff Huber once remarked that his job is not just to teach his athletes how to perform better, but also how to perform better under pressure. Indeed, performing at a high level in practice, and being able to demonstrate that same level of playing in performance settings are very different tasks, requiring unique methods of preparation.
In this workshop, we will explore several key practice schedules which facilitate learning that "sticks," and experiment with different modes of preparation that elite performers utilize to build confidence and perform more freely on stage. Students are invited to bring their instruments to the group sessions to be coached by Dr. Kageyama in front of the class.
