A weekend extravaganza celebrating the Conservatory of Music’s Sesquicentennial Anniversary featuring 82 performers playing a total of 700 minutes of great piano music, spread over 10 recitals in two days on December 5 and 6, 2015.

Concerts will take place at 1:30, 3:00, 4:30, 6:30, and 8:00 pm each day in Warner Concert Hall.

The 8:00 pm performance on December 6, 2015 will feature conservatory faculty and retired faculty members of the Piano Department.  This performance will be streamed live.  To access the live stream, please go to:

Performers throughout the 10 concerts will include 70 piano majors hailing from across the United States. from California to Connecticut, and from 10 foreign countries; 10 current piano faculty members; and three retired members of the piano faculty including Joseph Schwartz (Robert W. Wheeler Chair in Performance, 1960-98), Sanford Margolis, (professor, 1972-2015) and Frances Walker Slocum (professor, 1976-1991).

The history of piano at Oberlin is a long and distinguished one, with former graduates enjoying successful careers.  Students at Oberlin have gone on to win prizes in some of the world’s most prestigious competitions, including the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition in Tel Aviv, Van Cliburn Competition in Ft Worth, Naumberg Competition in New York City, Gina Bachauer Competition in Salt Lake City, and the William Kapell Competition in College Park, MD.  Oberlin piano alumni also hold prominent academic positions across the globe.
