"Kant on Reason as Aspirational": Reason has often been seen as a source of certainty and insight: as furnishing secure knowledge concerning objects and presenting them in a way most comprehensible to the human knower. In this paper, I suggest that Kant has a radically different view of reason, as aspirational: not as a source of certainty or of transparent self-understanding, but as setting ends that are beyond us.
