About this Event
87 North Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074
Please join the art department for this lecture series presented by studio art alumni. The Studio Art Senior Capstone course prepares our majors to launch into the competitive art world. Meet art department alumni and hear first-hand how they navigated life with a BA in art. Each alum in this series represents a different career pathway.
Tiffany Calvert is a painter who employs diverse technologies in her painting process, including fresco and artificial intelligence. Her talk will discuss her studio research and practices, how she learns and employs both ancient and new technologies in her works, and the relationship to ongoing painterly dialogues. She will also discuss her academic and artistic paths, and the roots of her concerns in new media and abstraction. Calvert graduated from Oberlin in 1998, earned her MFA at Mason Gross School of Art at Rutgers in 2005, and is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the MFA in Visual Arts Program at Sam Fox School of Art at WashU in St. Louis.
This event is presented with support from Ellen H. Johnson Endowed Fund for Contemporary Art
