Particularities: TIMARA Installation by Joshua Tazman Reinier

Friday, December 9, 2022 at 7:30pm

Bibbins Hall (Conservatory of Music), TIMARA Gallery
77 West College Street, Oberlin, OH 44074

"Particularities" is a generative sound & text installation that explores the complexities of communication and self-presentation. Participants are invited to speak into a microphone, which scrambles audio into a four-channel sonic tapestry distributed throughout the space. Reflections and projections distort the visual information of the room, creating a space that is both an interior monologue and an unfamiliar landscape.

This installation was created by Oberlin alumnus and Conservatory staff member Joshua Tazman Reinier, as part of the course "No Earlids: The Body is an Ear," taught by Prof. Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste.
