Ottoman Turkish Art and the West: Six Centuries of Admiration, Envy, and Acquisition

Walter Denny, professor of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will present "Ottoman Turkish Art and the West: Six Centuries of Admiration, Envy, and Acquisition."

A discussion of the export of Ottoman artistic goods to Europe, the collecting of Ottoman art in the West, the emulation of Ottoman techniques and styles, and the contemporary issues surrounding works of Ottoman art in European and American museums.
