About this Event
The OSLAM Information Session and Audition Workshop is an opportunity for students to prepare for OSLAM auditioins and learn more about OSLAM, Oberlin's slam poetry team.
OSLAM strives to create a space for Oberlin College students to share their stories through performance poetry. We hope to uplift our writers by working alongside them to unravel our experiences, emotions, and thoughts through poetry.
We aim to use performance poetry for both personal catharsis and societal change, following in the tradition built by the labor, art, and voices of Black people. Performance and slam spaces are derived from several Black artistic forms, including but not limited to spoken word, hip hop, jazz, blues, and spirituals.
The practices of performance and spoken word poetry are powerful, long-lasting traditions that open up accessible, changeable, dialogues around social issues.
If you are interested in being part of this change or learning more about it, please attend this event and consider auditioning to join our team!
Audition sign-ups are available at https://tinyurl.com/20-21-auditionsignup.
Sign-ups close at 7 p.m., EST, Thursday, December 2. We hope to connect with as many interested students as possible and grow our OSLAM community. We look forward to seeing you!
