Oberlin Summer Theater Festival: Measure for Measure

Saturday, July 27 at 2:00pm

Irene and Alan Wurtzel Theater
67 North Main Street, Oberlin, Ohio 44074

Oberlin Summer Theater Festival kicks off its 11th season of presenting free, family friendly performances in rotating repertoire.

Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare takes on a contemporary perspective: ‘‘To whom should I complain? Did I tell this, who would believe me?’’  More than 400 years before the#MeToo movement, Shakespeare wrote about similar abuse of power. Set in medieval Vienna, a novice nun, Isabella, goes to Judge Angelo to plead for a pardon for save her brother‘s life, only to be met with an indecent proposal.

This thought-provoking play remains relevant, as we continue to question justice and punishment. Paul Moser directs.

Performances run in rotating repertoire though July 27. Get tickets in advance or at the door.

The Oberlin Summer Theater Festival is made possible by generous support from Oberlin College, city of Oberlin/Oberlin Business Partnership, Nord Family Foundation, Nordson Corporation Foundation, Ohio Arts Council, and audience members.
