The Texas State Portal is located on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
The Portal is run by Texas State Galleries, a contemporary art gallery on campus that is housed within the university’s School of Art and Design.
As an Emerging Research University, Texas State offers opportunities for discovery and innovation to faculty and students. Texas State's 38,694 students choose from 98 bachelor’s, 92 master’s, and 13 doctoral degree programs. Its student body is diverse: Fifty-two percent of Texas State students are ethnic minorities, and Texas State ranks 14th in the United States for total bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanic students.
The faculty and students at San Marcos campus are part of a growing community along the I-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. Located in the Texas Hill Country, the City of San Marcos was founded on the San Marcos River, home to several now-endangered plant and animal species.
Texas State Portal is funded by the Texas State Galleries, the School of Art and Design, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, the McCoy College of Business Administration, the Department of Housing and Residential Life, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Education, the College of Applied Arts, University College, the College of Health Professions, the Common Experience, the Honors College, and the Center for Diversity and Gender Studies.
