Pianist Zheyu (Crystal) Jiang is a fourth-year student at Oberlin under Peter Takács. Originally from China, Jiang came to the United States in 2014 as a member of the outstanding students’ group from the Central Conservatory of Music, from which she graduated with high honors. She was invited to participate in the MasterWorks Festival as a pianist and choir director. Jiang has performed in master classes with Paul Badura-Skoda, Peter Frankl, Ann Schein, William Grant Naboré, Dang Thai Son, Tamás Vásáry, Ursula Oppens, Thomas Otten, Walter Cosand, and Eugene Alcalay. She has held solo recitals in major concert halls including China National Center of Performing Arts, Wuhan Huangzhong Concert Hall, and Henan Opera House and has also toured to perform in Los Angeles, Oakton, Zeeland, Changsha, and Tianjin. She won the first prize in the fourth China Skills Competition, the top prize in the Ohio Three Arts Club Competition, Arthur Dann Piano Competition, and the Senior Concerto Competition at Oberlin. Jiang was nominated to perform in a master class at the Gilmore Festival in Kalamazoo, MI. She was awarded the Agnes Fowler Scholarship in 2018.
