Have you heard Oberlin is a green place? "What are some things that make it so sustainable?" you ask. Take a Sunday tour and find out. This tour highlights a few staples of Oberlin's sustainability scene.
10 - 11AM: First stop is the Adam Joseph Lewis Center (AJLC). We will learn about the Living Machine, the solar technology, geothermal, grounds, and more! (122 Elm Street)
11:15AM-12PM: Did you know there is a 10-acre solar array just north of town on college property? This 2.27 mega watt array quite a sight to be seen. (Off the access rd. on North Professor)
12PM-1PM -- break for lunch
1 - 2PM: Trail Magic is the name of the McDaniels' net-positive home. This incredible home uses active and passive solar with a variety of other cool features that make it an awesome carbon neutral residence. (495 East College Street)
2:15 - 3PM: Our last stop will be at Professor Rob Thompson's Oberlin home. This home features solar technology as well as a rainwater collection system. (216 Hollyswood Street)
This tour will leave from the AJLC with a caravan of vehicles (cars and bikes). Students, faculty/staff, community members, and visitors are all welcome to participate. Participants may join at any point throughout the tour. Need details day-off? Call or text Bridget at 440-935-4113.
