Music at the Meeting House: Bruce Erwin, violin

Award winning fiddler and violinst Bruce Erwin will present a recital of music by Bach, Schubert, de Falla and Brahms, as well as several fiddle tunes.

Erwin has been a member of the Canton Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and La Orquesta Sinfonica de Xalapa in Mexico. In 1996, 1997, and 2015, he won the Open Division of the Ohio Scottish Fiddle Championship and represented Ohio at the North American Scottish Fiddle Championships.

This fall, 2015, he won an Honorable Mention for the Best Air at that contest. He has also created his own collection of Scottish tunes, The Fiddler’s Wrist published in 2003. 

Erwin has a studio of 20-30 students at the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood, and has taught at the TCU Suzuki Institute, the DFW WOW Suzuki Institute, the Capital University Suzuki Institute, the Suzuki Music Columbus Institute and El Campamento Musical Juvenil Panamá.

Erwin is playing a violin made by his father in 1992.
