The Middlebury School in China, run in conjunction with CET Academic Programs, is characterized by a focus on Chinese language immersion and integration with the host culture. Students sign the Middlebury Language Pledge, a promise to speak only the target language during their semester abroad, demonstrating a real commitment to developing their language skills. 

The curriculum consists of a place-based core course, content-based electives, and a one-on-one research tutorial, tailored to students’ individual academic interests. At our sites in Beijing, Hangzhou, and Kunming, students live on the campus of a host university with Chinese roommates, who become a bridge to help navigate culture differences and gain an up close and personal understanding of Chinese college life.
