OC SNATS is delighted to present a two-day residency with renowned coach and collaborative pianist Margo Garrett. This is the second of two master classes. It is free and open to the public and geared toward both singers and pianists.

Pianist Margo Garrett was born in Raleigh, N.C., and has collaborated with Jaime Laredo, Daniel Phillips, Paul Neubauer, David Shifrin, Sharon Robinson, Kathleen Battle, Barbara Bonney, Beverly Hoch, Lucy Shelton, Dawn Upshaw, Benita Valente, and the late Judith Raskin.

She has performed the premieres of more than 30 works and has recorded on the RCA, Nonesuch, MusicMasters, Sony Classical, Deutsche Grammophon (1992 Grammy), and Dorian labels.

Garrett was formerly codirector, with Samuel Sanders, of the Cape and Islands Chamber Music Festival, director of the Tanglewood Music Centers Vocal Program, and on the faculty of the New England Conservatory.

Currently she is chair of accompanying and coaching at the University of Minnesota and chair of vocal faculty at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Steans Institute for Young Artists at Ravinia.

She holds a BM from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and did graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music. She studied piano with Irwin Freundlich, Samuel Sanders, and Pierre Bernac.
