Professor Kelly Lytle-Hernandez, the principal investigator for Million Dollar Hoods, will present a lecture titled ‘‘Mapping the Fiscal and Human Cost of Mass Incarceration.’’

One of the nation’s leading experts on race, immigration, and mass incarceration, she is a professor of history and African American studies at UCLA and the interim director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA. 

Professor Lytle-Hernandez is also the author of two award-winning books, City of Inmates: Conquest, Rebellion, and the Rise of Human Caging in Los Angeles  and Migra! A History of the U.S. Border Patrol
