Lunch & Learn - Peer Programs

Please join Len Podis, emeritus professor of rhetoric & composition, and English, and founder of Oberlin’s Writing Center, and Matthew Hayden, associate dean of students, for an informal discussion about working with students in peer programs. 

These days, we are fortunate at Oberlin to have a plethora of academic and student support programs where students provide information, resources and empathy to their peers. including writing associates, OWLs leaders, student accessibility advocates, student teachers of Conservatory secondary lessons, resident assistants, and peer listeners, to name only a few out of many. 

Whether you work directly with a peer program, with individual students in peer helping capacities, or are just interested to learn more about peer programs in general or at Oberlin, please bring your lunch and join us to share thoughts and experiences as we consider together what has been effective and challenging about training and supervising students for these roles, and developing, promoting, sustaining and evolving peer programs.
