An Informal chat and lunch for students with Danielle Lee, PhD.
Prof. Lee will discuss her career path in science research and science communications, as well as topics in diversity and activism in the sciences. This will be an informal discussion with students over lunch, which will be provided.
Prof. Lee is well known for her blog at the Scientific American, where she writes about both the experiences of women and people of color in the sciences and urban ecology and evolutionary biology. She also uses her platform to engage general audiences in the sciences, with specific focus given to underrepresented groups.
Currently a visiting assistant professor at Southern Illinois University: Edwardsville, Prof. Lee’s research extends to an examination of the African giant pouched rat and behavioral variation across gradients. Please read more about her important work.
She also will have a biology talk on her scientific research later this day: “African giant pouched rats as a new behavioral model: examination of natural history, reproductive biology, and individual behavioral differences.”
