Join the Afrikan Heritage House and the Department of Africana Studies as we celebrate Kwanzaa 2019 with a guest lecture by Maulana Karenga, PhD. His topic, "Living Kwanzaa and the Seven Principles: An All-Seasons Celebration and Practice of the Good."
Karenga is professor and chair of the Department of Africana Studies at California State University, Long Beach. He also is the founder and creator of the Pan-African holiday Kwanzaa, an annual weeklong celebration of black history, culture, and values; and the Nguzo Saba, the seven principles the fuel the celebration.
Karenga is also the author of numerous scholarly articles and books, including Maat, The Moral Ideal in Ancient Egypt: A Study in Classical African Ethics; Selections from the Husia: Sacred Wisdom of Ancient Egypt; The Book of Coming Forth By Day: The Ethics of the Declarations of Innocence, among others.
