A talk by Gabriel M. Schivone, youth organizer and writer
The fates of the United States, Israel, and the Palestinians are in constant collision. U.S. immigration enforcement is one point of intersection: Israel helps militarize the Mexico-U.S. border, and the undocumented Palestinian experience is wrapped up with that of Latin's and border communities in the immigrant-justice movement. Join this presentation to discuss how two liberation movements are playing out together in the United States.
Gabriel M. Schivone is a youth organizer with UNIDOS indigenous-based ethnic studies group in Tucson, Arizona and an ad hoc steering committee member of National Students for Justice in Palestine. He is a blogger for The Huffington Post's "Latino Voices" section and for The Electronic Intifada. His award-winning writing has appeared in local and international publications, including the UK Guardian, Arizona Daily Star, Arizona Republic, The Nation magazine and others.
