Lecture presented by Barry Gilder.

Mr. Gilder served as General Manager and later Deputy Director-General of the South African Secret Service from 1995 to 1999 and as Deputy Director-General Operations of the National Intelligence Agency from 2000 to 2003.

In 2010, he participated in setting up the Mapungubwe Institue for Strategic Reflection, a policy think tank  where he served as the Director of Operations.

Mr. Gilder is the author of newly-published book 'Songs and Secrets: South Africa from Liberation to Governance'.
