 s available to Oberlin College students through the Five Colleges of Ohio 
 during the summer of 2020. Program staff will be on hand to answer any que
 stions.\n\nLight refreshments will be served. Applications for both progra
 ms opens in November 2019.\n\nDetails\n\nStanford University in Menlo Park
 \, California\, has reserved four spots for Ohio Five students to particip
 ate as interns in the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) St
 ructural Molecular Biology (SMB) program.\n\nThis internship program will 
 match undergraduate students from the Ohio Five who are interested in expl
 oring structural molecular biology research with a research opportunity at
  SSRL in the SMB area. Over the 8-9 week internship\, students will work i
 n the laboratory conducting experiments\, designing and using software\, a
 nd/or measuring and analyzing data associated with research projects direc
 ted by SSRL SMB faculty and staff. \n\nRecent student projects have includ
 ed structural studies on antibiotic resistance enzyme\, crystal growth\, s
 ample preparation and equipment design for structural biology research\, a
 nd software/hardware developments for automated crystal screening. This is
  a fully funded program and participants will receive a weekly stipend\, p
 aid housing\, and travel to and from Menlo Park.\n\nOhio State University 
 in Columbus\, Ohio has secured 30 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience
 s (SURE) offered exclusively to students of the Five Colleges of Ohio\, th
 anks to an expanded collaboration between the Ohio State University Colleg
 e and the Ohio Five.  In addition to SURE internships originally offered i
 n STEM fields such as chemistry\, biochemistry\, statistics\, physics\, ma
 thematics\, and epidemiology in summer 2019\, the program will now also in
 clude research opportunities in biology and public health.  This is a full
 y funded 10-week program including paid wages and campus housing at Ohio S
 tate from May to July.
