Out of the basement rehearsal rooms of Chicago’s Symphony Center, the remarkable forces of flutist Meerenai Shim and percussionist Christopher G. Jones forged together to form the A/B Duo in Spring of 2012. This new duo has already premiered and recorded The Art of Noise by Janice-Misurell-Mitchell and has embarked on their first concert tour in the Winter of 2013. A duo that specializes in new works, the A/B Duo dedicates their efforts to commissioning and championing new works for the flute and percussion repertoire.

A/B Duo has already commissioned new compositions from Drew Baker, Zack Browning, Andrea La Rose, Jenna Lyle, Ned McGowan, Carolyn O’Brien, Matthew Joseph Payne, Ivan Trevino, Francisco Castillo Trigueros and Ken Ueno. These compositions vary wildly in style and instrumentation from djembe and contrabass flute to Gameboys and drum set. A/B Duo will proudly premiere these works during the 2013-2016 seasons.
