Green Acres Living Building Challenge Presentation

Friday, December 6, 2013 at 4:00pm to 7:00pm

Oberlin Public Library
65 South Main Street, Oberlin, OH 44074

Students in the 4th year design studio at Kent State CAED are focusing on the integration of sustainable design in their design methodology. Along with finding new ways to design, a part of this focus is the Living Building Challenge (LBC) “respect for people, amongst all the other petals”. This interfaces well with the Green Acres and Zion CDC goals.

Students in the Kent State AEST Construction Management program have the opportunity to understand the cost and construction on a real-life/real time sustainable and environmentally conscious project and to facilitate cooperation with architecture students and faculty

PROJECT MISSION
The project is mission is twofold; design a sustainable housing community on the fifteen acre site that exemplifies the opportunities for positive energy living with consideration of the economical, ethical and ecological impact, and develop designs for affordable ‘positive energy homes’ that can be used by Zion CDC. Zion will be building a home March 2014, based on student designs.
