Freedom Friends: Underground Railroad History Walk

Learn about Oberlin’s famous freedom seekers and those known to have helped them make their way to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Oberlin is said to be second only to Canada as an asylum for the hunted fugitive slave. Sponored by the Oberlin Heritage Center, participants will hear stories about Oberlin’s most famous freedom seekers and people known to have helped them make their way to freedom.

Groups of eight or more may call the Tour Coordinator to schedule a private tour.

This history walk will be cancelled if it is raining at start time and registrants may request refunds or transfers.

This tour begins near the front steps of First Church, U.C.C. at the northwest corner of Main Street (Route 58) and Lorain Street (Route 511).

Cost is $6.00 per person and tickets are available online at www.oberlinheritagecenter.org, in person at the Museum Store in the Monroe House up until tour time, or by calling 440-774-1700.
