AJO featuring CrxxD (Dru Baker) & my0what (Mayowa Afolayan)
Bama-born & Chicago-bred, Ajo (pronounced \’āy-joe\) has lived a mad existence of her own, getting her start in music by making up raps and teaching TLC choreo in the schoolyard. To let the blogs tell it, think “Lauryn Hill meets The XX.”

The years that followed transformed the once talent-show-dropout into a dynamic songstress who has opened for the likes of Deerhoof, Awkwafina, and Rocky Rivera. A highly-decorated poet, Ajo aims to infuse a confessional style of writing into her musical works, taking cues from other greats ranging from Tracy Chapman to Frankie Ocean.
Ajo has performed at venues across NYC:
♥ House of Vans
♥ Music Hall of Williamsburg
♥ Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen
♥ Tinderbox Festival & La Sala Rossa in Montreal!
