Help FASA celebrate Filipinx American Heritage month as well as our 15th year in the Oberlin community.
We hope you will join us for an author panel with author Mia Alvar and Oberlin Professor of English Harrod Suarez.
Then come through the Science Center atrium at 6pm for Filipino food and a musical performance from #FASABand!
About our speaker panel:
Born in the Philippines and raised in Bahrain and the United States, Mia Alvar is a critically acclaimed writer known for In the Country, a short story collection centered around narratives of the Filipino diaspora. The book won several awards, including the 2016 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction.
Oberlin's very own Harrod Suarez is an assistant professor of English and comparative American studies. His new book, The Work of Mothering: Globalization and Filipino Diaspora, will release October 30.
This family friendly event is open to all of the Oberlin community. We hope to see you there!
