This workshop will explore building a career and working as a contract session player for various commercial music industries. Topics will include booking session gigs, types of music and business skills needed to be successful, self-recording/software/hardware considerations, and how to optimize your opportunities for success as a contract musician. The workshop will explore work such as Broadway pit orchestras, recording music to picture, and performing with touring artists.
This presentation will prepare students for a recording session in Clonick Hall on January 29 in collaboration with the Film Scoring Workshop Winter Term group project. (Participation in that Winter Term recording session is not mandatory for attendance at this workshop.)
