DESCRIPTION:A group of environmental studies students will talk about their
  fall break research trip to Africatown\, Alabama\, the community founded 
 by the survivors of the last ship to illegally bring enslaved people to th
 e United States.\n\nThe students will discuss Africatown’s present-day e
 nvironmental justice threats and the preservation and advocacy work that O
 berlin has collaborated on since 2014 under the leadership of Associate Pr
 ofessor Janet Fiskio. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.\n\nThis 
 event is free and open to the public.\n\nCosponsored by the Oberlin Colleg
 e Libraries\, the Friends of the Oberlin College Libraries\, and the Envir
 onmental Studies Program. Additional funding from the Doris Baron Student 
 Research Fund and the Environmental Studies Gift Fund.
