This Honors Presentation in Musical Studies will introduce Ethan DiPietro’s original research conducted in Northern Spain. DiPietro draws on his interviews and recordings to explore the music and dance practices of León, emphasizing the discursive engagements and frameworks of individuals. Through a series of profiles and performance events, this presentation approaches “folklore” and “tradition” as processes shaped by practitioners' creative agency and lived experiences.
