A hands-on workshop discussing the relationship between creativity and mental health.
Helgeson will present an overview of the psychology of creativity, using Harvard psychologist Shelley Carson’s seven creative "brain sets" as a framework to discuss creative flow, structuring work sessions, and navigating mental or emotional challenges in creative work.
A scholar of creativity and mental health in the arts, Aaron Helgeson is frequently invited to teach workshops in creative wellness, working with young artists to find holistic ways of living and working. Helgeson currently serves as Associate Professor of Composition and Music Theory at Montclair State University's Cali School of Music.
