Robert Kuttner and Paul Pierson will talk jointly about Contemporary Capitalism and the Future of Democracy, based on the themes in Professor Kuttner's book, The Squandering of America: How the Failure of Our Politics Undermines Our Prosperity and Professor Pierson's book, American Amnesia: How the War on Government Led Us to Forget What Made America Prosper (coauthored with Professor Jacob Hacker).

In the spirit of their commitment to expanded social welfare, the politics department will provide free pizza.

About the presenters

Robert Kuttner, ’65, Honorary Doctorate, 2015, is a celebrated political economist, author and journalist who teaches at Brandeis. The most recent of his 11 books is Can Democracy Survive Global Capitalism? due in April 2018.

Paul Pierson ’81, is John Gross Professor of Political Science at UC Berkeley. He is one of our most eminent eminent political scientists and the prize-winning author of six books, most recently American Amnesia.
