DESCRIPTION:Luis Perdomo\, jazz piano will perform in collaboration with Ob
 erlin student PI ensembles.\n\n-----\n\nPerformance and Improvisation (PI) 
 Ensembles provide an opportunity for students to enrich their existing musi
 cal vocabularies and skills through practical exploration of many different
  world musics and improvisation across a range of genres and styles. \n\nEm
 phasis is placed on transcription and creating a means of adaptation to the
  student’s primary (western) instrument.  Ensemble instruction is divided i
 nto two modules per semester\, each focusing on the musical styles of a par
 ticular region (Sub-Saharan Africa\, South America/Central America/the Cari
 bbean\, Northern Africa/the Middle East\, Asia). \n\nPI ensembles will part
 icipate in intensive residencies and collaborative performances with visiti
