Bonner Center Virtual Speaker Series: Racial Justice and Immigration
Friday, November 6, 2020 12:30pm to 1:15pm
About this Event
The Bonner Center is hosting a series of facilitated Zoom conversations each Friday with regional community partners focused on considering pressing national issues through a regional racial justice lens.
This week's speaker will focus on Racial Justice and Immigration.
Jeff Stewart is the coordinator of Immigrant Worker Project (IWP) - Centro San Jose, which is dedicated to the struggle for justice and human dignity for rural immigrant workers. It is an organization that is working toward a future when Economic Democracy and Communities of Solidarity are achieved for rural immigrants in Ohio.
Economic Democracy is a participatory system in which workers have a meaningful voice in all structures of their economic existence. Communities of Solidarity are communities where cultural diversity is embraced by institutions of faith, education, social services, and health care. To obtain these goals IWP empowers community leaders, creates structures for global education, and advocates for workplace justice.
Please note the new start time of 12:30 p.m. To attend the session, send an email to bonner.center@oberlin.edu to receive the Zoom link.
