DESCRIPTION:Conceived\, choreographed\, and directed by Lauren Elwood ’21
\, the Oberlin Theater Department is proud to present Big Spender: Fosse\,
Camming\, and All That Jazz! Shimmy\, shake\, and step your way into the
life of nine cam models in this thirty minute musical theater dance film.
First conceived pre-pandemic as a musical revue exploring Bob Fosse’s le
gacy through a feminist lens\, Big Spender now jumps into a devised explor
ation of camming using Fosse’s tantalizing vocabulary and material\, as
well as original ensemble-written monologues and scenes. We move through F
osse’s illustrious body of work dancing to pieces from Chicago\, Cabaret
\, Sweet Charity\, Damn Yankees\, and All That Jazz\, illuminating the rea
lities of virtual sex work and questioning the performative male gaze we
’ve all internalized. In short: Fosse\, Camming\, and All That Jazz!\n\n
The show will be available for three days only\, February 19-21\, and adva
 nced registration is required.
