Come audition for OSTA's production of "A Man in the House," by Elinore Siminovitch and directed by Julia Peterson '19. "A Man in the House" follows three generations of women navigating identity, politics, and feminism in 1930s Montreal, and the man who comes to board with them.

Characters:

  • Lily - a 36-year-old Jewish woman. She is an activist and union organizer. Romantic interest for Peter.
  • Mrs. Shain - a 60-year-old Jewish woman, Lily's mother. Her politics and adherence to tradition are more conservative than Lily's, and she is extremely opinionated.
  • Jenny - Lily's daughter, 15 years old. On the cusp of deciding the direction of her future, and feeling the pressure from all sides.
  • Mrs. Black - a 60-year-old Jewish woman, a neighbor. Gossipy, nosy, sharp-tongued and nurturing in turns.
  • Peter - a 42-year-old Jewish man, the boarder. Starts off polite and soft-spoken, becomes demanding and abrasive later in the play. Romantic interest for Lily.

Auditions will be held in Bibbins 213 between 8 PM and 10:30 PM on Wednesday, September 26 and Thursday, September 26. You can reserve a time for your audition through this form.
